Hugo Münsterberg (1863–1916) was a German-American psychologist and a pioneering figure in applied psychology. A student of Wilhelm Wundt, he was invited by William James to direct the Harvard psychological laboratory. Münsterberg revolutionized the field by applying psychological principles to legal systems (founding forensic psychology), industrial efficiency, education, and medicine.
