Description

In Psychology and Social Sanity, pioneer Hugo Münsterberg argues that modern social problems stem from mental conditions. Moving psychological science out of the lab, Münsterberg analyzes how suggestion, habit, and perception quietly shape human behavior. He applies these insights to early 20th-century life, examining jury decisions, the traps of advertising, investments, and community health.

Author

Hugo Münsterberg (1863–1916) was a German-American psychologist and a pioneering figure in applied psychology. A student of Wilhelm Wundt, he was invited by William James to direct the Harvard psychological laboratory. Münsterberg revolutionized the field by applying psychological principles to legal systems (founding forensic psychology), industrial efficiency, education, and medicine. He also wrote landmark early theories on film criticism.
