Description

Mrs. Buff regales her youngest kitten with a tale of a cat mother curious about human life. Despite cat-people's inherent wisdom, this feline yearned to understand humans better. The story unfolds, highlighting the amusing and insightful observations as the cat delves into the peculiar ways of human people, offering a whimsical perspective on the lessons one might glean from their behavior.

Author

E. Nesbit (1858–1924) reinvented children's literature by letting magic walk into ordinary English life — leftover tea, railway platforms, and wishes that go wrong in the most practical ways. The Railway Children, the Bastable books, and the Psammead adventures taught young readers that wonder need not be solemn. Nesbit wrote as an adult who still remembered how children actually talk: funny, fierce, and rarely pious.
