Description

At Rancho del Ganado, Custer Pennington's world collides with Hollywood when fiancée Grace Evans seeks a screen career and actress Shannon Burke flees director Wilson Crumb's coercion and drugs. Burroughs's dual tale of ranch honour against studio corruption, bootlegging, and murder.

Author

Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875–1950) invented Tarzan and John Carter and then refused to stop inventing. Jungle, Mars, Pellucidar, lost cities: he built a pulp engine that made adventure unapologetic and wildly popular. Tarzan leapt from novels into comics, film, and merchandising until the ape-man became a global icon; Barsoom gave science fantasy a desert romance and a swordsman's swagger.
