Description

Martin ships out from Cornwall with Barney O’Flannagan and finds Brazil ready with jungle, wreck, and more trouble than a boy bargained for. Friendship and grit keep him moving. Spoken as classic adventure with the real road underfoot, not the invented jaguar-raised orphan yarn.

Author

R. M. Ballantyne was an author and missionary who wrote adventure novels for children. Many of his books were set in the Scottish Highlands, and featured heroes who were brave and resourceful. Ballantyne's writing was praised for its exciting plots and accurate descriptions of nature. He was also an accomplished artist: he exhibited some of his water-colours at the Royal Scottish Academy.
