Description

Gulliver's Travels is a satirical novel by Jonathan Swift that tells the story of a man named Gulliver who is shipwrecked and finds himself in a strange land where he is treated as a giant. The natives of this land are small people who live in a society that is ruled by giants. Gulliver eventually returns home, but his travels have changed him, and he is now able to see the world from a different perspective.

Author

Jonathan Swift (1667–1745) wrote Gulliver's Travels, a children's book that is not, and a satire that still bites the hand that reads it. An Anglo-Irish dean of St Patrick's, he spent a life between London power and Dublin grievance, sharpening pamphlets until they cut. The Modest Proposal is a joke with no laugh; the Travels look like adventure until the Houyhnhnms arrive. Ten titles here, and the anger has not gone off.
