Description

"Dracula" by Bram Stoker is a Gothic horror novel that follows Jonathan Harker's journey to Transylvania to assist Count Dracula in a real estate transaction. Soon, Harker realizes he is a prisoner in the eerie castle. Dracula travels to England, unleashing a vampire threat. Harker's fiancée Mina, her friend Lucy, and a group led by Professor Van Helsing join forces to combat the undead. The novel unfolds through journals and letters, creating a suspenseful narrative exploring themes of fear, superstition, and the clash between modernity and ancient evil.

Author

Bram Stoker (1847–1912) wrote Dracula and then had to live in its shadow. An Irishman in London, he kept Irving's theatre running by day and, by night, invented a vampire who travels by timetable and feeds on paperwork as much as blood. The novel is a collage of voices; the monster is organised. Later cinema gave him a look; Stoker gave him a method. Twenty titles sit here, most of them quieter than the one that named a genre.
