Description

After mutiny, Gulliver reaches a land ruled by rational Houyhnhnms, noble horses, while brutish Yahoos labour beneath them. He learns their speech, tells of England, and measures human pride against equine reason. Swift’s voyage satire for anyone who wants the last Gulliver country spoken with clear, biting calm and no flattery left.

Author

Jonathan Swift (1667–1745) wrote Gulliver's Travels, a children's book that is not, and a satire that still bites the hand that reads it. An Anglo-Irish dean of St Patrick's, he spent a life between London power and Dublin grievance, sharpening pamphlets until they cut. The Modest Proposal is a joke with no laugh; the Travels look like adventure until the Houyhnhnms arrive. Ten titles here, and the anger has not gone off.
