Description

Jacob Settle is haunted by red-handed dreams after a riverbank killing, and later dies saving lives in a factory disaster that forces his confession of guilt into the open. Stoker?s short tale of remorse, responsibility, and a conscience that will not sleep. Blood on the hands becomes the price of trying to protect and still failing those you meant to save.

Author

Bram Stoker (1847–1912) wrote Dracula and then had to live in its shadow. An Irishman in London, he kept Irving's theatre running by day and, by night, invented a vampire who travels by timetable and feeds on paperwork as much as blood. The novel is a collage of voices; the monster is organised. Later cinema gave him a look; Stoker gave him a method. Twenty titles sit here, most of them quieter than the one that named a genre.
