E. A. Wallis Budge

E. A. Wallis Budge (1857–1934) was Keeper of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities at the British Museum and a prolific translator of Near Eastern sacred narrative. The Book of the Cave of Treasures is one door into that workshop: Syriac legend, biblical history retold as treasure and lineage. His Victorian energy put a museum's hinterland into English for a wide public.
