Description

Five afternoons in Cicero’s Tusculan villa: after the morning’s rhetoric, a gallery called the Academy, Greek-style talk on the questions that will not stay in court. Tusculan Disputations is philosophy as a Roman holiday that still works. The Big Nest ebook. Pain, death, the mind, what a gentleman owes his unrest. Not a novel. Cicero in leisure that is not idle — friends, country, the school he built to think in. English of a classic that treats speculation as the day’s real sport.
