Author

Johann Rudolf Wyss (1782–1830) was a Swiss professor in Bern who edited and published The Swiss Family Robinson, the shipwreck classic drafted by his father, Johann David Wyss. Two titles here. The island is a school of making-do: wreck, family, and a world rebuilt from salvage. The son's name is on the title page; the father's pulpit is in the lessons.
