Author

Charlotte Bronte was born in 1816 to an English father and a French mother. She was one of five siblings, all of whom became writers. Bronte's first novel, The Professor, was published in 1857. However, she is best known for her work Jane Eyre, which was published in 1847. The novel tells the story of a young woman who is mistreated by her guardian, but eventually finds love and happiness.
