Description

The Plumed Serpent is a novel by D. H. Lawrence that tells the story of Kate Leslie, an Englishwoman who travels to Mexico and becomes caught up in a revolutionary movement led by a charismatic and enigmatic figure known as the Plumed Serpent. As Kate becomes more involved in the revolutionary cause, she becomes increasingly drawn to the Plumed Serpent, both as a political leader and as a lover. However, as the revolution grows more violent and the stakes become higher, Kate must grapple with her own allegiances and desires, as well as the cultural differences and power dynamics between herself and the Mexican people.

Author

D. H. Lawrence (1885–1930) wrote as a prophet of authentic living in an age of machines. Novelist, poet, and essayist, he traced how industrial England suffocated instinct — and how love, nature, and honest desire might restore it. From the coal-country childhood of Sons and Lovers to the contested passion of Lady Chatterley's Lover, his fiction asks what it means to be fully alive when society prefers you obedient.
