Description

On a remote island Professor Arthur Maxon builds artificial men; scheming von Horn is the assistant, not the maker. Virginia Maxon is caught between the creatures and the men who control them. Identity and hubris in the jungle.

Author

Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875–1950) invented Tarzan and John Carter and then refused to stop inventing. Jungle, Mars, Pellucidar, lost cities: he built a pulp engine that made adventure unapologetic and wildly popular. Tarzan leapt from novels into comics, film, and merchandising until the ape-man became a global icon; Barsoom gave science fantasy a desert romance and a swordsman's swagger.
