Description

The Invisible Man is a novel by H.G. Wells that tells the story of a man who discovers a way to become invisible. The novel is considered to be one of the first science fiction novels and is still widely read today. The story follows the invisible man, Griffin, as he tries to adapt to his new life and use his power for good. However, as Griffin struggles to control his invisibility, he descends into madness and becomes a danger to those around him.

Author

H. G. Wells (1866–1946) was born in Bromley, trained in biology under Huxley, and turned that laboratory habit into fiction. The Time Machine sent a Victorian into deep time; The War of the Worlds brought the sky down on the Home Counties. He wrote as if the future were a social problem with monsters attached.
