Description

Caesar at Lilybaeum, tent in the surf, one raw legion, a contrary wind, and Africa still to be fought. The African Wars is the campaign prose of 47–46 BC: haste as a tactic, new levies, an enemy already on the water. The Big Nest ebook in English. Not a modern novel. Commentaries with salt on the guy-ropes. January sailing, a general who will not look like a man with time. Roman war as logistics and nerve. The waves at the tent-foot are the first sentence of the campaign.

Author

Julius Caesar was a Roman politician, general, and notable author of Latin prose. He played a critical role in the events that led to the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. Caesar's victories in the Gallic Wars, completed by 51 BC, extended Rome's territory to the English Channel and the Rhine.
