Description

Du Maurier on his own craft: little pen strokes, the social scene, humour and satire the public can read at a glance. Social Pictorial Satire, Fantastica ebook — Punch’s world explained by a man who lived in it. Not a memoir of famous friends only. The illustrated criticism of lighter life, England as a drawing. How a line becomes a joke that lands in the week. A craftsman’s account of black-and-white England, domestic, clubbable, sharp. The art he spent his best years on, described without mystique.
