Description

Howard Pyle's Rejected of Men: A Story of To-day is a provocative, turn-of-the-century religious allegory that boldly transposes the Gospel narrative and the Passion of Christ into modern, upper-class New York. The plot follows J. Conyers Gilderman, a wealthy man whose comfortable reality is shattered by a miraculous, radical preacher. Stripping away historical distance, the novel explores capitalism, high-society skepticism, and social justice.
