Description

The abbot of the Monastery of Moville sent word to the story-tellers of Ireland that when they were in his neighbourhood they should call at the monastery, for he wished to collect and write down the stories which were in danger of being forgotten.

Author

James Stephens (1882–1950) was an Irish poet and storyteller of myth retold with humour and sudden lyric heat — The Crock of Gold, Fionn, Bran, Tuan Mac Cairill. He made the old cycles feel spoken rather than museum-kept. With 10 titles in our catalogue, Stephens remains a voice of Irish wonder that never forgets to smile.
