Description

Oliver Trembath comes to St Just as a young doctor and goes down Botallack. Ballantyne’s industrial yarn: Cornish tin, ladder and drip, flood and fall of ground, a community that already knows the price. The mine as sound — pick, warning, chapel after the shift — solidarity as voices in the dark. Adventure with a medical witness; the doctor earning trust underground, the lode that can kill.
