Description

In the short story, Das Urteil: Eine Geschichte by Franz Kafka, a man goes on a long trip and discovers that his family had been struggling to survive while he was away. The protagonist of the story has been absent for an unknown amount of time and is unaware that his family has spiraled into starvation and poverty. After returning home the protagonist is shocked and confused by what he perceives as deprivation.
