Description

Stunden-Buch or The Book of Hours is a collection of poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke. With its dreamy, melodic expression and neo-Romantic mood, it stands as one of the most important of Rilke's early works. Rilke displayed a wide range of his poetic talent employing provocative language and use of a turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau aesthetic. The suggestive musicality of his verses developed into the hallmark of his later lyric poetry.

Author

Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926) was an Austrian poet of inward intensity — Duino Elegies, Sonnets to Orpheus, and the novel of Malte Laurids Brigge. He wrote of angels, things, and the difficult work of seeing clearly. Rilke's German is musical and demanding; his letters and poems still teach readers how to live with questions rather than slogans. With 6 titles in our catalogue, he remains a voice for those who want poetry that thinks.
