About Edith Nesbit

Edith Nesbit was an English author and poet, born in Kennington Lane in Kennington, Surrey. She created an innovative body of work that combined realistic, contemporary children in real-world settings with magical objects, adventures, and sometimes travel to fantastic worlds. Among Nesbit’s best-known books are The Story of the Treasure Seekers, The Wouldbegoods, The Railway Children. Nesbit also wrote stories for adults and made wonderful adaptations of Shakespeare’s drama.
