Western Meadowlark

The western meadowlark (Sturnella neglecta) is the flute of western grassland — yellow breast, black V, a bubbling song that carries over prairie and river canyon. Birders know it as a voice of open country. In Ambient recordings it rises against water and woodland neighbours, a clear phrase in a larger wild weather. The bird prefers the skyline of grass; the recording brings the field indoors.
