George Sylvester Viereck

George Sylvester Viereck (1884–1962) was a German-American poet and journalist whose novel The House of the Vampire made psychic hunger a drawing-room plot: an artist drained by a charming parasite of talent. Two titles here under Fantastica. The book is fin-de-siecle atmosphere with a cold idea at the centre — fame as something that can be stolen.
