Zacharias Ursinus

Zacharias Ursinus (1534–1583), born Zacharias Baer in Breslau, was a German Reformed theologian of the Palatinate and the principal author of the Heidelberg Catechism. He taught at the University of Heidelberg and the Collegium Sapientiae, shaping doctrine as a series of questions a believer could actually answer. Comfort, conscience, and the Sunday classroom: the catechism still sounds like a teacher who expects the heart to keep up.
