Black Swift

The black swift (Cypseloides niger) is a dark, high-flying aerialist of western mountains and waterfalls, nesting on damp cliffs and foraging on the wing. Birders know it as a shape more than a perched portrait — a bird of sky and spray. In Ambient recordings of temperate wetlands, the black swift joins loons, frogs, and forest neighbours as one of the high, passing voices of wild habitat.
