Virginia Rail

The Virginia rail (Rallus limicola) is a small, secretive wetland bird of North America, more often heard than seen among marsh grasses. Its calls carry social life across the reeds — pig-like grunts and sharp kek notes that birders learn as the voice of wet ground.
