Ovid

Ovid (43 BCE–17 CE) wrote the Metamorphoses, a carnival of changing bodies in which gods chase, mortals transform, and myth never sits still. Ranked with Virgil and Horace among Rome's great poets, he also wrote love elegies sharp enough to amuse — and dangerous enough, perhaps, to help earn his exile to the Black Sea. Wit is the engine; desire and storytelling are the fuel. Few ancient books feel so modern in their mischief, or so generous with wonder. Ovid teaches that form is temporary and narrative is forever.
