St Richard of Chichester

St Richard of Chichester (c. 1197–1253) was Bishop of Chichester and later patron saint of Sussex. His shrine drew pilgrims until the Reformation; his memory survives in the Day by Day prayer — 'may I know thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, follow thee more nearly.' Few lines of English devotion are more quietly famous.
