Molière

Molière (1622–1673), born Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, is the great comic dramatist of the French language — actor, poet, and company manager who wrote Tartuffe, The Bourgeois Gentleman, and The Imaginary Invalid. His plays mock hypocrisy, pretension, and the body that will not behave, and they still fill the Comédie-Française more often than any other playwright. With 12 titles in our catalogue, Molière remains the theatre's sharpest laugh at how people really live.
