George Moir

George Moir (1800–1870) was a Scottish advocate, man of letters, and amateur artist whose Magic and Witchcraft surveys superstition, conjuring, and the history of occult belief with a lawyer's curiosity. Writing from Edinburgh's learned world, he treats wonder as a subject for reason rather than a sermon against it — a readable companion to the long European argument about what counts as natural and what does not.
