John Lubbock

John Lubbock, 1st Baron Avebury (1834–1913), was an English banker, politician, and polymath who coined the terms 'Palaeolithic' and 'Neolithic.' A neighbour and protégé of Charles Darwin, Lubbock advanced archaeology, entomology, and botany while championing bank holidays and public libraries. His popular book The Pleasures of Life urged readers to cultivate learning, reflection, and the habit of happiness.
