King James VI

King James VI of Scotland (later James I of England, 1566–1625) was a scholar-king whose Daemonologie (1597) examined witchcraft, demonology, and the supernatural for a learned audience. Written before the English throne and the King James Bible that bears his name, the treatise belongs to an age when royal authority and occult fear shared the same page.
