Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes (1902–1967) was a central voice of the Harlem Renaissance — poet, playwright, novelist, and essayist who captured the rhythms, humour, and dignity of Black American life. His work celebrates ordinary experience without sentimentality and insists that art belongs to the people who live it. From jazz-influenced verse to stage drama such as The Mule-Bone, Hughes helped define twentieth-century American literature.
