Joel Chandler Harris

Joel Chandler Harris (1848–1908) was an American journalist and folklorist best known for Uncle Remus, His Songs and His Sayings — stories drawn from African American oral tradition and told through the voice of Uncle Remus. Harris preserved Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and other trickster tales that had travelled across generations. The book became one of the most widely read collections of American folklore and a landmark in how the nation's stories were recorded.
