The rose-breasted grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) is a stocky songbird of eastern North American forests, the male marked by crisp black-and-white plumage and a vivid rose-red breast. Often hidden in the treetops, he delivers one of the richest whistled songs in the woodland — frequently compared to a robin, but brighter and more varied.
