Olaudah Equiano

Olaudah Equiano, also known as Gustavus Vassa, is a prominent figure of the 18th century transatlantic slave trade. His narrative, The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, serves as an important primary source for understanding the experiences of enslaved people during this period. According to his memoir, he was from the village of Essaka, presumed to be in present-day southern Nigeria. And described as a native of the Eboe (Igbo) province in the 1791 4th edition of his book.
