Sarah H. Bradford was a renowned historical figure who made immense contributions to the shaping of American identity and to the abolitionist movement. Her most famous work, Scenes in the Life of Harriet Tubman, is widely recognized as a seminal text that not only documented Tubman’s life but also provided insight into the struggles and challenges faced by formerly enslaved persons in the United States during the nineteenth century. Most of her work consists of children's literature, some published under the name Cousin Cicely.
