Arnold Bennett

Arnold Bennett (1867-1931) was a prolific English novelist, playwright, and essayist, renowned for his keen observations of everyday life and the complexities of human nature. Bennett's vivid portrayals of early 20th-century British society and his exploration of character psychology have left an enduring legacy in English literature. Between the 1890s and the 1930s he completed 34 novels, seven volumes of short stories, 13 plays (some in collaboration with other writers), and a daily journal totalling more than a million words. Sales of his books were substantial, and he was the most financially successful British author of his day.
